The key to any successful adventure or outdoor lesson is to be prepared!
Here is a list of what you can find in Miss Jess’ backpack
First aid kit!
Whistle
Pen & paper
Hand sanitizer
Little bags
Binoculars & Magnifying Glass
Flagging tape
Extra socks/Extra mittens
Bug Spray

First Aid Kit- Make sure to check your local regulations to see if they have a standard first aid kit that is required. If there are no regulations, some of the staples would be bandaids, gauze, tape, triangular bandages, antiseptic wipes, and tweezers.
Whistle- At Forest School, we use a whistle to alert others that there is an emergency. It's a good idea to practice what to do if an emergency ever happens before exploring too far
Pen and Paper- it is always a great idea to have pen and paper handy for you and your children to draw or write down anything that comes up! It is a great way to work on writing skills so that you can remember what you wanted to look up when you got back to school.
Hand Sanitizer- You never know what you are going to come across on a trail. Having hand sanitizer with you is a great way to keep you and your class safer from the germs you may encounter
Little Bags- Children love to collect treasures when they are on adventures. Doggy poo bags are a great addition to your backpack for treasure collecting and also picking up garbage along the way.
Binoculars and Magnifying glasses- will help children explore their surroundings more. They love to see a bird, squirrel or bug close up!
